SHEPHERD OF THE HILLS LUTHERAN CHURCH Donations
Service Times: Wednesday - 7:00 p.m.            Sunday - 8:00 & 10:15 a.m.

Jesus taught that it is important that we be good stewards of our time, talents, and money. By joyfully responding to God's goodness through your giving you enable the mission and ministry of the church and this organization to thrive and grow.

It is likewise important for our church to be good stewards of blessings received and give back to be "Blessed to Be a Blessing" to others.

Time and Talent

Time and Talent

Donations of our time and talents to the operation and mission of the church are essential for a thriving ministry. Here at Shepherd of the Hills we have unlimited opportunities to contribute our time and our talents. In the secion of this website entitled WHAT WE DO we have listed many ministries for you to consider. But this is only a start. Use your imagination to help us develop additional ministries. Just give your ideas to the pastor or one of the council members.

General Fund

Serving Others

Monies which are given without a designation are deposited into the general fund. This fund is used to support the general operations of the church, including salaries, utilities, supplies, etc. This fund also covers the money we give to the ELCA and Florida synods for their work, and some charitable contributions such as World Hunger.

Designated Funds

Simply giving

Some donations are designated for specific needs such as Altar Flowers, World Hunger, Food for the Poor, Easter lilies, Christmas poinsettias, Disaster Relief, etc. These funds are expended only for the item for which they are designated.

Some members prefer to give a Memorial in honor of a loved one(s) to the church. These offerings may or may not be designated. These funds are expended for memorial items throughout the church. We hope to have a list of those items approved for memorials on the website in the near future.

Capital Funds

Simply Giving

Capital Funds are used primarily to retire the church debt and to fund needed capital projects. Only funds designated as "capital funds" or "building fund" are in this account. Many members have donated gifts of value (e.g. stocks, property) to this account. It is important that we support this account so we can retire our mortgage and move on to further phases in our church development. A long range goal is to build a separate sanctuary on our property.

Stewardship Campaign

Stewardship

Each year in early spring we conduct a stewardship campaign to pledge support to our approved budget. Members are asked to pledge to the support of the church and are encouraged to strive toward tithing.

Although a Capital campaign is not conducted every year, members are also urged to pledge and contribute toward deficit reduction.

The spring campaign focuses on urging members to contribute their time and talents as well as money to the operation of the church.

Memorial Fund

Memorial Fund

Some members and friends of the church wish to donate monies in memory or commemoration of loved ones. A memorial fund has been established for this purpose. Click HERE to view some suggestions for memorial contributions
